Feb 1, 2010 - @harfuch1 Bert's trumpet player was Tony Fisher. I believe he was British as were most of the musicians.

harfuch1 Says:

Feb 2, 2010 - @dahur thank you

mike6147 Says:

Feb 4, 2010 - The Tumpet player was Manfred Moch who, like the majority of this orchestra was German. Tony Fisher only became a memeber of the Bert Kaempfert orchestra in the 1970's.

dahur Says:

Feb 4, 2010 - @mike6147 Yes, I should have said Tony Fisher from 1970 on. Actually didn't he have several trumpet players prior to Tony Fisher? A couple that come to mind are Charly tabor, Werner Guterer, Ack Van Rooyen, and of course as you said Manfred Moch. I'm going on memory from a long time ago.

mike6147 Says:

Feb 5, 2010 - Yes, although Van Rooyen came later. Most of the musicians, particularly strings, were from the NDR Orchestra. The Kaempfert orchestra only got together for studio recordings and did not tour until the mid to late 70's. Other later regular performers where Peter Herbolziemer and Jiggs Whigam (trombone) Herb Geller (sax) Lucas Lindholm (bass). Drummer Rolf Ahrens was there from the start closely followed by Ladi Giesler who played the signature clicking guitar or Knackbass.

Feb 5, 2010 - What also amazes me, is the quality of the video and sound recording. This tape has been very well preserved.

Feb 7, 2010 - Nobody can compare the Bert Kaempfert orchestra with James Last. The only thing James Last did was stealing sounds of all the other orchestras throughout the whole world. With always the same kind of sound, thank God he is the only one who did that because it's terrible.

Feb 13, 2010 - Flawless! This Orchestra moves as smooth as silk.

glennsaiu Says:

Feb 14, 2010 - Many of the musicians that played on Bert's recordings also were on James Last's recordings. That could be why the two sounded so similar.

Feb 21, 2010 - glennsaiu: i prefer with distance Bert Kaempfert above James Last.. because Bert was a musician, Can,t say the same abouth james Last, He ,,borrowed,, music from other bands only.

glennsaiu Says:

Feb 21, 2010 - I prefer Bert as well. I was just making comment that some of the same musicians that played on Bert Kaempfert recordings also were on James Last recordings. They both also recorded on the Polydor label in Hamburg, Germany.

RalphDodge1 Says:

Feb 21, 2010 - Good we have the same opinion abouth that !

glennsaiu Says:

Feb 21, 2010 - I am curious as to who the trumpet is being played by? As I remember Mr Kaempfert had several lead trumpeters over the years. Fred Moch, Ack Van Rooyen, Tony Fisher, etc.

berndtan Says:

Feb 23, 2010 - Fred Moch playes the trumpet

Feb 23, 2010 - One of my kids made the comment that you could sure tell that this was from the 1960s owing to the mini-dresses the female chorus members are wearing. The woman who sings the soprano solo has a beautiful voice.

Feb 27, 2010 - Thank you very much! It's not only a reminder of my past (born 1965) - living in the Netherlands, with German TV, - but also a reminder of the quality back then! Keep this coming! Fred
